FULLY BOOKED
KNIT YOUR SOCKS UP - April 29 until May 3 2019

About 10 minutes walk away from the central station our boat Christina is docked in the Oosterdok at pier 4.

Every day, Afke Henni gives a workshop of 2 hours about knitting socks on a circular needle from the toe up.
Various heels and pattern possibilities will be discussed. The smaller your socks, the more different things you can learn.

Of course it's no problem to knit with 4 pens, start at the turn or do something else entirely.
The Sailing route:
Our ship Christina will sail past the former "Zuiderzee" fishing spots.
Day 1 from Amsterdam to Monnickendam.
Monicckendam will be our first overnight stay, a small fishers village with beautiful alleys and houses.
Day II from Monickendam to Hoorn
Day III from Hoorn to enkhuizen
Day IV from Enkhuizen to Schellingwoude to sail back on Day V to our home harbour Oosterdok pier 4
The barge has a big sundeck where you can enjoy the weather while we are sailing. It's an entirely different experience to knit while sailing through beautiful landscapes.
Afke has gained a great trackrecord by knitting socks with a circular needle and maillots, from baby size to xxxl. Next to that you can see her regularly at knitting conventions in- and out- side of the Netherlands. Afke also taught handicraft classes to kids and has her own creative and culinary blog rodeklompen.nl.

COLORFULL KNITTING - 16 t/m 20 september

Because of a resounding success, we are organizing two knitting trips this year. One trip in the spring and this trip, which takes place in September. All ingredients are present to make a wonderful trip:
  • Afke Henni gives a two-hour workshop every day or supervises individually
  • The route is beautiful
  • We are all busy with our hobby "knitting"
We welcome you on Monday, September the 16th at 12.00PM.
The ropes are immediately thrown loose so we can set sail to arrive in Haarlem on time. There is a lunch while sailing and Afke will introduce herself.
The first workshop starts right after our lunch.

Of course there is a knitting shop in every city or town where you can score some new wool nots.

In Haarlem liggen we midden in het centrum.
The next day we sail to Leiden together, where we will be docked on the edge of the city center, nearby "de Zijlpoort".

Afke will give tips or advice per person or in the group depending on what suits you best.
The workshop topics will contain all sorts of winter accessoiries, such as a hat or mittens with an overflap or knit a scarf.
The various knitting techniques are discussed such as fair isle, brioche or double knitting.
Afke has earned has heaps of experience in the knitting of socks and tights, from baby sock to xxxl maillot. In addition to standing at various knitting fairs at home and abroad, she, until recently, tought arts and crafts at primary school, where she tought various techniques to children, she also maintains a creative, culinary blog, rodeklompen.nl.

The fourth night we stay in Uithoorn,

The next day we sail down the Amstel. It's quite impressive to sail straight through Amsterdam.
After this citytrip we will moore back in to our homeharbour and after lunch we will conclude our final knitting trip of this year.
On the third day we set sail to Alphen aan de Rijn.

A beautifull journey with typical Dutch scenery.

On our ship Christina there's always a very warm and cozy atmosphere. The captain does not only have a passion for sailing but he's also an excellent host. Together with his crew they will make sure you won't have any problems and get the full attention you deserve during the trips. Warm and delicious food is served by our chef Henny and her meals and the kindness of the entire crew is reason for many to return every year.
