European capital of culture 2018 more info.

While you cycle during the day, the boat Christina (max. 20 pax.) will sail, with captain Toon Sevens. This way you spend every night in a different city but in the comfort of the same cozy cabin. Every day you cycle about 45-55km so you need to be in a well enough shape to be able to participate. Every bicycle has 12 gears, but you can also rent an E-bike against an extra charge or bring your own bicycle.

The Cycling guide will take you to experience cultural trips along the way or you can have a nice city trip in the evening. Don’t miss out on this brilliant cycling and sailing holiday through the Netherlands along the border lakes and the Weerribben and Friesland.

There are 10 cabins each suitable for 2 people. If you are travelling by yourself you will share your cabin with somebody of the same gender or you can pay extra to have your own cabin.

Excellent meals, including lunch packages are included.

Transportation to and from this tour is not included.

Participants are required to be able to cycle at least 50 km per day.

Amsterdam – Leeuwarden
Saturday afternoon July 21st Christina sails from Amsterdam towards Spakenburg. During this time you can meet the fellow travelers and unpack all of your luggage.

The cycling adventure starts in Huizen where you will cycle on a wonderful route to Spakenburg which is where we will be spending our first night. With a bit of luck you might meet women in costume. The whole of Spakenburg's center is protectet as a monument.
Spakenburg city center
Cycling will continue on the 5th day through the beautiful national park Weerribben to Friesland. the boat will either be in Lemmer or Langweer which is a very quaint little village during the winter but comes to life during the summer.

Unfortunately the 6th day will be the final day of the trip. from Langweer vaart the group sails until Grouw and from there on cycles to Leeuwarden. If you would like to enjoy this magnificent city full of culture. If you would like to stay an extra night we strongly recommend you to book well in advance as in 2018 Leeuwarden will be the cultural capital of Europe.

More information about this trip and it's cities is available further down the page.

On the next day we will sail to Hardewijk and you will cycle through the Veluwe. Hardewijk is famous for it's Dolfinarium, but there is more to Harderwijk. It has a magnificent historic center.

The third day will  start from Harderwijk through Elburg to Kampen by bicycle. Three Hanseatic cities on one row, old cities founded by trade over water and flourished by the Hanseatic treaty. We will spend the night in Kampen rich with churches and history. The fourth day of sailing, Christina will go to Vollenhove. And the cycling tour will be allong old fishers villages like Genemuiden and Zwartsluis. Vollenhove is a city which received it's city rights during the medieval times.

Leeuwarden to Amsterdam
Day one: Our ship and her crew will welcome you on Saturday afternoon, 27th of july, in Leeuwarden around 17.00 uur. Leeuwarden has been awarded to be the cultural capital of Europe.

For those who would like to enjoy Leeuwarden a day earlier, we recommend you to book accommodations in Leeuwarden well in advance as it will be very busy this summer.

Day three the ship will likely stay in Sneek and the cycling will go around lake Sneek, famous for it's yearly sailboat competitions.

On day four Christina sails to Heeg and you will cycle along a beautiful route visiting cities like Workum
Just like Leeuwarden and Sneek, Workum is one of the 11 Frysian cities.

On day 5 the ship will sail to Stavoren ( yes, also one of the 11 cities). You will cycle from Heeg passing Sloten through the magnificent nature reservation Gaasterland.
Gaasterland shows a different side of Friesland, famous for it's lakes and rivers, as it is a wonderful Forrest mixed with wide fields.

On day seven you will cycle along all sorts of little fishers villages towards Hoorn. Hoorn is also a former south sea city and you can still see many of it's history in the old sailing boats and city center. From there we will sail from Hoorn to Monnickendam, where we will spend our last night before the final day of the trip.

Day eight is unfortunately our last day. but there is still a great cycle tour planned today towards Amsterdam. It's very difficult to grasp that this close to Amsterdam there are such picturesque villages.
On the second day we will all leave the Frysian capital and you will be dropped off along the way to cycle along our new route allong the Zwette to Sneek, hometown of the captain.
Sneek, is a city in a grocery bag, it's small but you can find all the things you need and it's very cozy with a lot of terraces.

On day 6 we will leave in the early morning from Stavoren to Enkhuizen, Where we strongly recommend you to visit the Southeast museum. Where you can explore the time where large parts of the Netherlands were still underneath the sea.

Enkhuizen is a former south sea city, and the historic center has been perserved quite well, during the summer it's a very pleasant place to spend some time
